A golf divot is when you hit the ground after you have hit the ball. To make a good divot you need to know the bottom of your golf swing. Do practice golf swing to find the bottom of your golf swing and move the golf ball slightly in front of where you hit the grass. Where you hit the grass: that is you divot.
The following divot drill video by Jay will show you a practice drill that will teach you how to get a divot in a golf swing.
Creating a divot means you are hitting the ball first, then the ground. A divot before the ball is called a “fat shot”. A fat shot loses a tremendous amount of distance.
In order to make the perfect backswing make sure at the top of your backswing the shaft of your club should be parallel to the ground and pointing directly at the target.
At this stage 90% of your bodyweight should be on your back foot.
At this point your body is perfectly coiled to generate maximum power through the Golf ball.
